[Our client is looking for an experienced Robotics Engineer interested in navigation systems. In this role, you will spearhead the development of cutting-edge navigation solutions for our outdoor Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs). Your work will directly contribute to enhancing security measures, optimizing facility management, and revolutionizing remote perimeter patrol capabilities. Personal Attributes & Characteristics:
Technical qualifications:
- Strong proficiency in C++ and Python, with a solid background in ROS.
- Proficient with ROS: track record of building ROS software on real robots. Experience with ROS2 and Nav2 is a plus.
- Professional dev experience in one of the following areas: SLAM, motion planning, perception.
- Solid understanding of robotics principles, including kinematics, dynamics, perception, and control is a must.
- Experience with outdoor navigation systems and field testing protocols is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to troubleshooting.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively within interdisciplinary teams.
- Familiar with the Linux platform, its configuration, and command-line operations
- Track record collaborating on software projects (Git)
- Passion for robotics and a drive to push the boundaries of what's possible.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Architect and implement scalable control and navigation solutions for AMRs utilizing your expertise in ROS, C++, and Python. Your focus will be on robustness, efficiency, and adaptability in real-world environments.
- Evaluate and integrate third-party systems (HW/SW) to enhance robots' capabilities.
- Conduct rigorous field tests to validate the reliability and performance of navigation systems in diverse outdoor conditions. Leverage insights gained to iteratively improve and optimize navigation algorithms, incorporating SLAM, motion planning, and perception techniques.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of design, development, and deployment processes.
- Foster a culture of knowledge sharing within the team by presenting insights and lessons learned in regular sessions.
- Provide expert support for remote robot deployments at customer sites worldwide. Your troubleshooting skills and hands-on assistance will ensure seamless integration and operation of our solutions.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in robotics technology. Engage in continuous R&D efforts to explore new methodologies and technologies that can elevate the capabilities and performance of our AMRs.
- Implement findings to enhance existing systems and processes, keeping company at the forefront of technological innovation.
Qualifications, Skills, Experience:
- Education – Bachelors or master's in computer science/electrical engineering/mechanical engineering with a focus in robotics, mechatronics, or related fields
- Experience – Bachelors (with at least 3 years relevant experience) or Masters (with at least 1 year's relevant work experience)
- Industry – Previous experience in a robotics company preferred
- Supervisory – Personnel management is nice to have. Project management/technical lead experience is preferred
- Technology – C++/Python, Linux, git, ROS; SLAM, motion planning, or perception techniques
